This type of exhaust was installed on early production Spitfires up until mid-July 1939 and is suitable for Spitfire Mk.I (Early) from serial number K9787 up until at least L1054.

This style of exhaust manifold was also found on early production Mk.I Hurricanes and some other early Merlin engine powered aircraft.
